I'm back in Seattle - and my sweet husband gently mentions and reminds me about my neglected blog, says he misses it. Wow. Remember, I used to blog every week? With all the recent changes this year - it's been difficult for me finding my voice... and I'm feeling a little shy (yes, shy) about writing as a result...
Anyways - life update on the Arry Table adventures. I have been awarded an international design award for my Arry Table, which sent me over to Milan, Italy to receive the award and to meet with leading PR firms in Europe a couple weeks ago. It was an awesome experience. My design is now on exhibit at the Duomo di Como in Como, Italy for a couple more weeks - and will be a part of the permanent collection with the A' Design organization. Pretty cool, huh? When I had the design evenings with Apartment Therapy earlier this year, they recommended I look into entering my furniture design into design competitions - it was a brand-new idea for me, and I took them up on their suggestion. [Thanks Apartment Therapy friends!] With the whole design competition experience, I was surrounded with prestigious designers from around the world - seemed most of them were from Italy - all glittered with design school educations, exhibit experiences, and published works around the globe. Pretty humbling and most definitely honored to be an award recipient with them. At the event, I spoke mostly of my experiences in working in IT/Management Consulting and start-ups - and really, the same principles used to build beautiful design art/furniture/products are and should be used in building beautiful software/web applications. Wouldn't you agree?
