the beauty of twitter and meeting women

I love meeting people.  I really love meeting women.  I fall for some of them - especially the ones that are pretty, ambitious, smart, independent, strong-minded, opinionated, sincere, open, ...  awesome women.  I've been proactively working to expand my network of awesome women, and very consciously since 2008.  Some of you may have heard me speak of this circle of women I call the Pencil Skirts.

My favorite tool for meeting other really cool women?  Twitter.  Yes.  Twitter.  I am @ArryinSeattle.  I tweet about personal stuff going on in my life, inspirational quotes I find, the world of love, women, and startups.  I love spicy and shiny people with hearts of gold... people that see the big picture - that care and are aware - that are able to put others before themselves BECAUSE they are already secure with themselves.  I find that my online persona is similar to who I am - it's definitely magnified a bit and very much exaggerated - and that works for me right now.  I like myself - and I'm open to debate, hearing feedback/ideas, learning more about you.  I really don't have much to hide - ask, and I have no problem telling you about it.

Here's my list of favorite Twitter women I follow (and most of them I met via Twitter):
  • @KateWalling - she's a fellow startup chick and blogger (http://www.katewalling.com).  I consider her close to my heart - driven, super smart, and so sweet.  She has a lot of good life experiences - and I find myself leaning on her often for sane sound advice.  A successful woman with a beautiful strong heart.  I respect her a lot.
  • @BirdieRoyale - a talented costume/hat maker and blogger (http://birdieroyale.blogspot.com/).  Close to my heart, I find her zesty personality and spunky attitude awesome.  I love her downright authenticity spectacular - she finds the real antique treasures, she makes hairpieces and hats from scratch the old fashioned way, she sports her own style inside and out.  She drinks scotch and whisky.  Did I mention spunky?
  • @LadyBugDayz - a fellow talented businesswoman who owns her own consulting firm, Onza Solutions, and is very active in the nonprofit community working with TeamUp.  She puts in both time and money for the socially conscious cause - on top of running her own successful business.  You see that she's straight up and unassuming (strong) - you may be missing out on the tiger underneath (driven).
  • @KateMats - a talented woman and blogger (http://katemats.com) in tech who is currently the VP of Engineering at a successful local SEO company, SEOMoz.  She's been a speaker at some cool technology conferences - and is taking the world on by storm.  You meet her and you see the drive and hunger in her eyes right away.  Gorgeous woman.  Fashionista.
  • @InSearchofSquid - writer and fellow blogger (http://insearchofsquid.com) who left her corporate job to write a book!  Talk about inspiring!  Moved to Seattle and is working on settling in on her new life here and writing her book.   I like the realism in her blog posts.
  • Other really cool women off the top of my head: @Gearheadgal (technology excutive), @Stratejoy (life coach and fellow Cornellian), @JennyPurr (co-founder of InnerVibe and MiKandi), @AnnieKatrina (blogger and digital media girl genius) @Birdiee (fashion blogger), @Arianna (startup chick), @SmashingDivas (makeup artist), @CvVega (social media surfer)... (there are more awesome women out there, and this list was off the top of my head --> if you know of an awesome woman I need to follow/meet or vice versa, please ping me!)
Interesting note to close this post:  Social Media tools for men are used for mostly exchanging information.  Social Medial tools for women are used not only for exchanging information - but building/finding relationships with each other.  Thoughts?
