a random personal post: a few things I (re)learned this past week

Yes, so I signed up for that "post a week  2011" bit (#postaweek2011)... and I need to do at least one. I have a queue going on in my head of posts that I need to upload, but haven't had the chance to yet. I'll upload a bit more this week to catch up and clear my head. Posts soon to be posted: commitment, vulnerability, life of a start-up chick, and emotional terrorists to name a few.

I've had quite a few light-bulbs go off this past week.  This is the short list of my personal takeaways based on all of the things that have happened:

1. Opportunity chooses you.  All you have to do is keep your eyes/ears/heart/mind open - and be prepared to take a couple leaps of faith. Go out there and be! You may think you cannot take on any more - but trust me, you can do more than you think! Where there's a will, there's a way - so, how hungry are you?
   
2. Pain builds muscle. I'm sure you can tell this about me - I tend to be working on at least a few projects at any given moment. I try to limit myself to three at a time (but that's relative/subjective on how you interpret the "three")
3. Start with the "why":  Met with a person I consider my life adviser who said, think about the why first (inspired by Simon Sinek). The what, how, when, where - that'll come later. Why?  Why do you do what you do?  Why does it exist?  There really is order to the seemingly random bits of chaos called life. I'll write more on this - we spent some time poking around on this topic. Be brutally honest with yourself. Is it money?  Is it fame?  ...  Why?
